The Rochester Yellowjackets led 37-28 at the half and held on for a 79-72 win over the M State Lady Spartans in a MCAC Southern Division battle on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.
"Overall, we played a good game and probably the best we've played all season," commented M State Head Coach Janice Hendrickson. "Rochester did a good job hitting key shots to keep their lead down the stretch."
Rochester made 12-of-27 (44.4%) three-pointers on the way to the win, led by Olivia Matti who nailed 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and scored a game high 29 points. She was joined in double digits by Grace Riley with 15 and Lexie Worden with 11. Abby Bauer pulled down a team high 12 rebounds for the Yellowjackets.
Sydney Hovland (24 points, 2 assists), Megan Dreger (16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists) and Olivia Winfrey (11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals) were all in double figures for M State. Taylin Schleicher added 9 points and 6 rebounds, while Alexa Mortenson contributed 7 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.
M State is now 8-10 overall and 2-3 against division opponents. They will travel to Wisconsin on Wednesday to face Western Technical College.
