Cresap Named Region XIII Coach of the Year

The Region XIII Division III Men's Basketball Awards were released Friday and M State received two major awards. Foday Sheriff was named the Region XIII Division III MVP, and Spartan Head Coach Dave Cresap was named Region XIII Division III Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

Spartans Lose Two to Minnesota West

The Minnesota West Bluejays used a couple of big innings to lead them to a sweep of M State on Friday, winning 8-1 and 9-2. A five-run fourth inning in game one got the Bluejays going and in game two they jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.
Spartans Walk-Off Hibbing, Settle for Double Header Split

M State and Minnesota North – Hibbing split a double header on Wednesday. The Spartans won the first game, 4-3, on a walk-off extra inning RBI single by Carson Bevill. In game two, Hibbing had the bats working as they scored 11 runs on a dozen hits to earn an 11-3 victory.
Spartans Earn Road Split with Mesabi Range

M State split a Saturday double header with Mesabi Range in Virginia, falling 8-5 in the opener and taking game two, 22-0. A five run fifth inning allowed the home team to overcome a 4-2 deficit to take a 7-4 lead in game one, while game two saw the Spartans come alive at the plate, collecting 14 hits in the game.
Minnesota State Spartans Loses Despite Out Hitting Concordia Cobbers

Minnesota State Spartans fell 12-11 to Concordia Cobbers on Thursday despite out-hitting them 11 to 10. Dain Schroeder, Dalton Heater, and Carson Bussell each collected two hits for Minnesota State Spartans.
Spartans Barthel Named MCAC Central Division Pitcher of the Week

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly award winners for the week of March 10-16. Tyson Barthel, a right-handed pitcher for Minnesota State Community and Technical College earned the MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor.
Spartan Men Settle for 4th Place at NJCAA Division III National Tournament

The season ended for the M State Men’s basketball team on Saturday in Herkimer, New York, with an 86-69 loss to Dallas College – Richland in the NJCAA Division III 3rd place game. The Spartans finished with a 30-4 record, the most wins in a single season in Spartan history. The Thunder Ducks were trailing 27-26 when they went on a 9-point run to establish a lead they never relinquished.
Smith Hits Game Winner with One Second Left to Lift Mohawk Valley over M State

Two of the top teams in the country locked horns in a NJCAA Division III National Basketball Tournament semifinal game on Friday night with second-ranked Mohawk Valley hitting the game winning shot with one second on the clock to advance to the championship game with a 92-90 victory over the M State Spartans. The Hawks will match-up with host team, Herkimer College, at 4:00pm Saturday to decide the champion, while M State has a third place date with Dallas-Richland at 1:00pm.
Spartan Men Advance to Final 4 with 78-58 Win over Union College

The M State Men’s Basketball team established a new record with 30 wins in a season as they moved into the final four of the NJCAA Division III National Tournament with a 78-58 win over Union College of New Jersey. The Spartans held Union to 28 points below their scoring average. Foday Sheriff moved into fifth place all time in Spartan scoring. His 26 points pushed his career total to 1063. He also had 15 rebounds and 8 assists.
Spartan Baseball Team Falls to Moraine Valley

Tyson Barthel delivered a 2-run single to give M State a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Wednesday against the Moraine Valley Cyclones, however, things went downhill from there as the Spartans wound up taking a beating and losing 17-2 as they continued their Florida trip. A 7-run eighth-inning broke the game open.
Kent Drives in 4 Runs to Lead Spartans to 14-1 Win over Mesabi Range

Brendon Kent drove in four runs on a pair of hits to lead the M State baseball team to a 14-1 victory over Mesabi Range on Monday in Florida. Kent delivered the big blow with the bases loaded in the sixth inning when he came through with a triple to break the game open. The Spartans scored 9 runs on 7 hits in the sixth with Carson Bussell knocking in three runs with a bases loaded double.
Strong Hitting Not Enough As Minnesota State Spartans Falls To Lake Region State College Royals

Even though Minnesota State Spartans collected seven hits to Lake Region State College Royals's four, they still fell 3-0 on Sunday. Dain Schroeder, Brett Laurin, Cody Lofswold, Dalton Heater, Evan Lunde, Carson Bussell, and Cayden Doven each collected one hit for Minnesota State Spartans.

M State Baseball Team Opens Florida Trip with Win on Walk-Off Error

The M State Baseball team won their season opener on a walk-off error on Saturday as they defeated SUNY Adirondack, 8-7, in their first game of their Florida trip. The Spartans collected 11 hits in the game with Tyson Barthel, Dain Schroeder, and Carson Bussell each contributing two. Evan Lunde knocked in five runs in the win.
M State Men Win Region XIII Championship, Qualify for National Tournament

The M State Men’s Basketball team is headed to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time since the 2003-2004 season. The Spartans (29-2) qualified with an 84-62 win over Riverland in the Region XIII Championship game at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids. The Spartans held the Blue Devils to 18 points in the first half as they established a 43-18 halftime advantage.
