"This was a total team effort and we needed to play all 40 minutes to get the win," said Head Coach Janice Hendrickson of the lady Spartans. "We relied on everyone at different points throughout the game. These ladies have worked extremely hard over Christmas break to fix some of our mistakes we committed in our previous games."
Leading the way for M State were Taylin Schleicher (19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals), Samantha Lupkes (12 points, 12 rebounds, 2 steals), Claire Mathiesen (8 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals), Ashley Rimpila (8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals), Macky Warne (7 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and Kassandra Algarate (6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals).
Mesabi Range made 36% (22-61) of their field goal attempts and M State made 35.8% (24-67) of their shots. The Spartans won the battle of the boards 52-28.
The lady Spartans play Itasca at 3:00pm Saturday at M State.
