Lady Spartans battle against Rochester

Taylin Schleicher scored a team high 22 points and led the team with 9 rebounds. She also contributed 5 assists. Samantha Lupkes scored 17 points and dished out 6 assists, and Kassandra Algarate distributed 7 assists and had 4 steals. Sam Dahlgren provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. The lady Spartans had 22 assists on 26 made baskets.
M State shot 45.6% (26-57) on the afternoon and Rochester made 38.7% (29-75) of their shots. The Yellowjackets held a 46-34 edge on the boards.
"We battled with one of the top teams in the division today," said Head Coach Janice Hendrickson of M State. "We struggled taking care of the ball at times and at the free throw line. We've grown and improved so much as a team. Everyone gave everything they had in an attempt to win and left it all on the floor."
Grace Riley made 11-of-18 shots coming off the bench to lead Rochester with 27 points. Olivia Haug had 11 points and 9 rebounds, and Nautika Kotero scored 9 points while dishing out 5 assists.
M State (7-18, 3-9 MCAC South) will host Riverland Community College at 5:30pm Wednesday in Fergus Falls.
