Central Lakes overcame a 32-26 halftime deficit on their home floor Saturday afternoon and recorded a hard fought 71-68 victory over the M State lady Spartans. The Raiders had a strong third quarter, outscoring M State 25-16 to take the lead. The two teams scored 20 points each in the fourth quarter as Central Lakes was able to hold on for the win.
The lady Spartans place five players in double digits as they hit 43.3% (26-60) of their field goal attempts and made 80% (12-15) of the free throws. Emily Dehler led the way with 20 points and added 14 rebounds for a double-double. She also had 2 assists and 3 steals. Brooke Finken and Itzel Salazar added 12 points each, with Salazar recording 5 assists and 4 steals. Keely Foley came off the bench to score 11 and Ashley Draeger had 10 points to go along with 6 assists.
Jacey Rydberg scored a team high 20 to lead the Raiders. Two players, Jaime Johnson and Alyssa Torgerson contributed 15 points off the bench. Johnson had 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, while Torgerson pulled down 6 boards. Kalli Papenfuss had a strong game, finishing with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Rydberg also had 9 boards for the Raiders.
M State will return to Brainerd for the CLC Classic on Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17.
