Rochester, ranked #1 in the nation, shot 47% (35-74) from the field and made 21-of-25 free throws as they defeated the M State lady Spartans 96-36 on Saturday afternoon. Five Yellowjackets were in double figures, led by Myia Ruzek with 23 points. They also dominated the boards, 38-23, and had 25 assists on their 35 made baskets. Rochester also took excellent care of the ball with only 3 turnovers.
Danika Jones added 13 points in just 8 minutes off the bench, hitting 6-of-7 field goal attempts. Olivia Christianson and Jada James had 12 points apiece and Ravyn Miles chipped in with 11 points, while distributing 9 assists. Janae Bonner just missed a double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds.
Emily Dehler led M State with 11 points and 8 rebounds, and Itzel Salazar scored 9 points. M State shot 33% (12-36) from the floor and made only 1-of-14 3's. They also struggled to take care of the ball, turning it over 21 times, leading to 29 Rochester points.
M State will host Ridgewater on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
