Spartans Struggle against DCTC

Game 1-

Spartans's effort to come back from down four runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 6-5 to DCTC on Wednesday. Spartans scored five runs in the failed comeback on a walk by Jakob Bradsteen, a walk by Cody Arlt, a single by Ryan Schmidtz, and a wild pitch during Devin Bush's at bat.

Spartans were right in it until DCTC in the seventh inning.

Winslow toed the rubber for DCTC. He surrendered five runs on four hits over six innings, striking out 14.

Chandler Gramm toed the rubber for Spartans. He surrendered four runs on seven hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Skylar Mursu and Seth Harms entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.

Bradsteen, Matt Pietch, Rory Drewes, Schmidtz, and Harry Samuelson each collected one hit to lead Spartans.

 

 

Game 2-

Spartans fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-0 loss to DCTC on Wednesday. DCTC scored on a home run by Goulft in the first inning, a double by Hogie in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly by Harris in the second inning.

The Spartans struggled to contain the high-powered offense of DCTC, giving up six runs.

DCTC opened up scoring in the first inning, when Goulft homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

A single by Dustin Beliles in the second inning was a positive for Spartans.

Levi Arnold toed the rubber for Spartans. He allowed eight hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two. Devin Bush threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jakob Bradsteen, Beliles, and Ryan Schmidtz all had one hit to lead Spartans. Spartans was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Matt Pietch had the most chances in the field with four.

DCTC totaled ten hits in the game. Harris, Hogie, Goulft, and Baifr each managed multiple hits for DCTC. Harris went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead DCTC in hits.
