The M State Women’s Basketball team fought hard for four quarters in St. Cloud on Saturday, before succumbing to the Cyclones, 61-50. St. Cloud led 14-13 after one and then outscored the lady Spartans 18-9 in the second quarter to take a 32-22 halftime lead. Each team scored 11 third quarter points and in the fourth quarter, St. Cloud scored 18 and the Spartans had 17.

The Rochester Women’s basketball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead on Wednesday night in Fergus Falls and never trailed in their game against the M State lady Spartans, winning 73-36 for their fifth consecutive victory. M State shot just 32.6% (14-43) from the field and turned the ball over 25 times, leading to 28 Rochester points.

The Ridgewater women’s basketball team rode a 25-11 third quarter to a 77-51 victory over the M State lady Spartans on Saturday afternoon in Willmar. Ridgewater led 17-14 after one quarter and 35-27 at the half, but the 14 point separation in the third quarter gave the home team a comfortable 22 point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

Anoka-Ramsey hit 47.6% of their field goal attempts and held a commanding 38-19 advantage on the boards Sunday afternoon as the Lady Rams recorded a 72-35 victory over the M State lady Spartans in a MCAC Southern Division contest in Fergus Falls. The Rams held M State to just 10 first half points as they took a 40-10 halftime lead.

The lady Spartans had only five players available for their Wednesday night encounter with St. Cloud Technical and Community College at M State in Fergus Falls. One of the five was Hailey Nelson, a sophomore who had not played since the 2022-23 season and was activated for the game against the Cyclones. St. Cloud dominated the boards, 52-30 and shot the ball at a 42% clip as they handled the Spartans, 73-45.

The difference in Gogebic’s 67-45 win over the lady Spartans was the fact that Gogebic took 69 shots, making 25 of them, and M State had only 47 field goal attempts, with 17 of them finding their mark. 26 turnovers and a 35-26 disadvantage on the boards led to more offensive possessions for the visitors.
