The M State lady Spartans led 19-15 after one quarter, trailed 26-24 at the half and fell behind 39-32 after three quarters against Central Lakes in Brainerd on Friday night. M State fought back hard in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Raiders 18-14 over the final ten minutes, but falling short in a 53-50 loss in the Central Lakes Classic.
The lady Spartans shot 34.7% (17-49) on the night, but they went 7-for-13 (53.8%) from beyond the arc. Madi Foss (14 points, 13 rebounds) and Felicity LeBlanc (12 points, 12 rebounds) both registered double-doubles. Tenley Epema added 14 points and Maddy Zwetzig dished out a team high 5 assists. LeBlanc led the team with 4 steals. M State held a 35-31 edge on the boards.
The Raiders were led by Chesney Phillipp with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Antavia Bowstring delivered 9 points off the bench, Constance Bowstring added 8 points and Bobbie Rowland chipped in with 7 points. Central Lakes shot 32.3% (20-62) form the field and 29.2% (7-24) from 3-point range.
M State (3-4) will face Minnesota North College – Itasca on the first day of the Spartan Classic on Monday, December 30.
