Spartan Men Settle for 4th Place at NJCAA Division III National Tournament

The season ended for the M State Men’s basketball team on Saturday in Herkimer, New York, with an 86-69 loss to Dallas College – Richland in the NJCAA Division III 3rd place game. The Spartans finished with a 30-4 record, the most wins in a single season in Spartan history. The Thunder Ducks were trailing 27-26 when they went on a 9-point run to establish a lead they never relinquished.
Smith Hits Game Winner with One Second Left to Lift Mohawk Valley over M State

Two of the top teams in the country locked horns in a NJCAA Division III National Basketball Tournament semifinal game on Friday night with second-ranked Mohawk Valley hitting the game winning shot with one second on the clock to advance to the championship game with a 92-90 victory over the M State Spartans. The Hawks will match-up with host team, Herkimer College, at 4:00pm Saturday to decide the champion, while M State has a third place date with Dallas-Richland at 1:00pm.
Spartan Men Advance to Final 4 with 78-58 Win over Union College

The M State Men’s Basketball team established a new record with 30 wins in a season as they moved into the final four of the NJCAA Division III National Tournament with a 78-58 win over Union College of New Jersey. The Spartans held Union to 28 points below their scoring average. Foday Sheriff moved into fifth place all time in Spartan scoring. His 26 points pushed his career total to 1063. He also had 15 rebounds and 8 assists.
M State Men Win Region XIII Championship, Qualify for National Tournament

The M State Men’s Basketball team is headed to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time since the 2003-2004 season. The Spartans (29-2) qualified with an 84-62 win over Riverland in the Region XIII Championship game at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids. The Spartans held the Blue Devils to 18 points in the first half as they established a 43-18 halftime advantage.
Sheriff Scores 40 to Lead Spartans Past Ridgewater

Foday Sheriff made 18-of-25 shots from the field, scoring a game high 40 points and reaching 1000 career points for his Spartan career, as he led M State past Ridgewater 107-76 in the Region XIII Semifinals on Saturday at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids. Sheriff added 9 rebounds, 5 assists and a pair of blocked shots.
All Five Starters Reach Double Figures as Spartans Defeat Mesabi Range 107-55 in Region XIII Opener

M State fell behind 4-0 in their Region XIII quarterfinal game against Mesabi Range and then went on a 29-2 run to establish a lead they never relinquished on the way to a 53-25 halftime lead and a 107-55 victory. The win advances the Spartans into the semifinal round of the tournament on Saturday, where they will face Ridgewater College at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids.
M State Men Finish Regular Season with Win at St. Cloud

The M State Men’s Basketball team recorded their 11th consecutive win on Saturday in St. Cloud, as the Spartans took a 36-25 halftime lead over the Cyclones and held off their second half comeback for an 82-76 victory. M State is now 26-2 overall as they prepare to enter the Region XIII Tournament next Friday through Sunday at Anoka-Ramsey in Coon Rapids.
Spartan Men Overcome 13 Point Deficit to Beat Yellowjackets in Overtime

Mason Muir buried a corner 3 at the end of regulation to tie the game at 67-67 and force overtime for M State against Rochester on Wednesday night in Fergus Falls. The Spartans overcame a 13 point second half deficit and went on to post an 81-73 overtime win over the Yellowjackets.
Baldwin Scores 35 as Spartans Continue Great Shooting Stretch with Win at Willmar

Freshman guard Braylon Baldwin led the M State Men’s Basketball team in Willmar on Saturday, scoring 35 points on 14-of-23 shooting, including 7-of-15 from beyond the arc, leading the Spartans to a 101-80 victory over the Ridgewater Warriors. Baldwin also had 6 rebounds and a pair of assists. The Spartans continued their torrid 3-point shooting, hitting 44.4% (16-36) of their treys in the game. They hit 48.1% (38-79) of their overall field goal attempts.
M State Men Make 18 3's in 108-76 Win Over Trinity Bible College

The M State Men's Basketball team continued their torrid shooting on Wednesday night, making 13 first half 3's and 18 3's in their 108-76 win over Trinity Bible College. M State shot 45% (18-40) on 3's and 57.1% (44-77) overall. M State led 59-33 at the half and led by as many as 41 points in the game.
Spartan Men Clinch Playoff Berth, Take Sole Possession of Division Lead with win Over Rams

The M State Men’s basketball team clinched a post season berth with a 94-71 victory over Anoka-Ramsey on Sunday afternoon in Fergus Falls. The Spartans improved to 8-1 in the MCAC South and 22-2 overall. Their win, coupled with the Riverland loss to Minnesota West on Saturday, leaves M State alone atop the Southern Division standings.
Spartans Knock Off Undefeated, Top-Ranked Riverland, 80-56

The M State Men’s Basketball team led 31-28 at the half Wednesday night in Austin, but a 49-28 second half carried the Spartans past the top-ranked Riverland Blue Devils, 80-56. The win moves M State into a tie for first place with Riverland in the MCAC Southern Division with 7-1 division records. The win puts the Spartans at 21-2 overall. The loss is the first of the season for the Blue Devils, now 22-1.

The M State Men's Basketball team defeated Minnesota West, 82-75, on Saturday in Fergus Falls, winning their 20th game of the season. The Spartans improved to 6-1 in the MCAC Southern Division as they completed a season sweep of the Bluejays.

The M State Men's Basketball team shot 54% (32-59) from the field, buried half (11-22) of their 3-point shots, and hit 24-of-30 (80%) free throw opportunities on Wednesday night as they improved to 19-2 overall and 5-1 in MCAC Southern Division play with a 99-68 win over St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

The M State Men’s Basketball team traveled to Rochester on Saturday to take on the Yellowjackets in a MCAC Southern Division tilt. M State led 26-25 at the half and pulled away in the second half for a 67-57 victory, improving their season record to 18-2 and their MCAC Southern Division mark to 4-1.

M State and Ridgewater battled through 11 lead changes and 8 ties on Wednesday night before the Spartans finished with a 103-93 victory over the Warriors in a game played in Fergus Falls. M State had four players score in double figures and shot 47.4% (41-72) from the field, winning the rebounding battle 36-29.
