M State and Ridgewater battled through 11 lead changes and 8 ties on Wednesday night before the Spartans finished with a 103-93 victory over the Warriors in a game played in Fergus Falls. M State had four players score in double figures and shot 47.4% (41-72) from the field, winning the rebounding battle 36-29.
Foday Sheriff registered a double-double (22 points, 16 rebounds), making 10-of-16 shots from the floor. He also recorded 3 assists. Yonis Mohamud scored 23 points, garnered 8 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and came up with 4 steals. Mason Muir contributed a team high 27 points on 8-of-12 shooting, made 9-of-11 free throws and distributed 5 assists, and Javin Tindal wound up with 19 points. Tyson McArthur had 4 assists and blocked 3 shots.
Ridgewater's red hot 3-point shooting kept the game close. The Warriors made 15-of-29 (51.7%) shots from beyond the arc and hit 35-69 (50.7%) shots overall. Tyrese Mayo (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) went 3-for-7 from 3-point range, and Elijah Carul (16 points, 3 assists) was 4-for-7 on 3's and 6-of-9 overall. Aiden Wichmann, Keagen Shrider and DeAndre Holloway each scored 14 points. Holloway also pulled down 12 rebounds to complete his double-double.
M State (17-2, 3-1 MCAC South) will play at Rochester on Saturday.
