Anoka Ramsey got off to a fast start on Wednesday night as the Golden Rams took a 24-9 lead after the first quarter and a 37-16 halftime advantage on the way to a 67-38 win over the M State lady Spartans. M State had to play the entire game with no subs as they had only five players available after Kharmon Wells suffered an injury at Northland on Monday night.
Kaitlyn Olson led M State with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Madi Foss added 11 points and 9 boards, Tenley Epema scored 9 points and Felicity LeBlanc had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and a team high 7 assists. The lady Spartans shot 27.3% (15-55) from the field and turned the ball over 21 times. They lost the rebounding battle, 50-40.
Sydney Hazuga (23 points, 6 assists, 5 steals), Mariam Alowonie (22 points, 17 rebounds, 12 offensive rebounds) and O'Ciana Johnson (13 points, 11 rebounds) were the leaders for Anoka-Ramsey. The Rams shot 36.8% (28-76).
M State (5-7, 0-2 MCAC South) will host Ridgewater College next Wednesday in Fergus Falls.
