Lady Spartans Fall to Gogebic 67-45

Both teams shot 36.2% from the field on Saturday as Gogebic Community College from Gogebic, Michigan paid a visit to M State in Fergus Falls. The difference in Gogebic's 67-45 win over the lady Spartans was the fact that Gogebic took 69 shots, making 25 of them, and M State had only 47 field goal attempts, with 17 of them finding their mark. 26 turnovers and a 35-26 disadvantage on the boards led to more offensive possessions for the visitors.
Felicity LeBlanc registered a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) to lead M State. Madi Foss and Tenley Epema added 9 points each, while Foss and Maddy Zwetzig each gathered 6 rebounds. Zwetzig led the team with 4 steals and Epema had a team high 3 assists.
Five games in eight days was tough for this solid group of five players," acknowledged head coach Jodi Holleman of the lady Spartans. "They battled strong all five games and I am super proud of all of them. We finished the game with 4 players today and outscored them in the fourth quarter. We are excited to gain a few more players next semester."
Gogebic was led by Melissa DiGiorgio with14 points and 12 rebounds. Kate Borseth had 13 points and RaeLynn Robinson finished with 11 points and 5 steals. DiGriorgio and Lilly Johnson each had 3 assists.
M State (3-3) will play in the Central Lakes College Tournament on Friday in Brainerd.
