Lady Spartans End 3 Game Losing Streak with Impressive 74-36 Win Over Itasca

Three members of the lady Spartans recorded double-doubles and all five starters scored in double figures as they snapped a 3 game losing streak with a 74-36 win over Minnesota North College – Itasca on the first day of the Spartan Basketball Classic on Monday at M State in Fergus Falls. 

The Spartans won the rebounding battle, 48-27, forced 20 turnovers, while turning the ball over 8 times themselves, and recorded 20 assists on 30 made field goals.  They shot 40.5% (30-73) from the field, while holding the Vikings to just 26.9% (14-52) shooting.

Double-Doubles were registered by Madi Foss (19 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), Felicity LeBlanc (10 points, 18 rebounds) and Kaitlyn Olson (10 points, 10 rebounds.  Eleven of LeBlanc's rebounds were on the offensive end.  Kharmon Wells had a team high 24 points, and led the team with 7 assists and 4 steals, and Tenley Epema contributed 11 points, 4 assists and 2 steals.

Alyizzia Roy led Itasca with 10 points and Alice Irvine snared 7 rebounds.  Claire Clusiau and Lilia Pemberton chipped in with 8 and 7 points, respectively.

M State (4-4) will face Minnesota North College – Vermilion on Tuesday at 3:00pm.
