CLC Hands Spartans Two Road Losses

Trailing 6-0 in the opener the Spartans pushed across six runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, however, Central Lakes answered with three in the bottom of the inning and held on for the win. Matt Pietsch drove in a pair of runs with a double and Harry Samuelson delivered a two-run single in the inning. Andrew Shaw also knocked in a run for M State. Casey Welsh led the Raiders with a double, a triple and three runs batted in. Alex Guggisberg had 2 RBI and 2 runs scored for the home team.

M State led 5-2 after three innings in the second game, however, Central Lakes came up with six in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the game by the ten-run rule. Shortstop Devon Brown went 2-for-4 with a homer, four runs batted in and three runs scored to lead the Raiders. Welsh had another productive game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Alonzo Knowles (2-2, 2BB, 2RBI, 3R) and Malich Barry (1-3, 2BB, 2 RBI, 2R) added home runs for the home team. Leaders for M State were Levi Arnold (1-3, 2 RBI), Matt Pietsch (1-2, BB, 2R) and Harry Samuelson (1-3. RBI, R, SB).

The Spartans will host Central Lakes in a double header on Sunday starting at 1:00pm.
