Spartans Win Extra Inning Thriller

The Spartans squared off against a familar foe in Mesabi Range CTC.  Both teams started the game out quietly.  Things changed in the the 3rd inning when Mesabi Range was able to put up three runs.  The Spartans answered with four of their own thanks to a two run double by Austin Oetter.  Mesabi was able to tie the game up in the 5th at 4-4.  Both teams remained scoreless until in the bottom of the 10th. Dane Schwirtz was able to drive in Austin Stanislawski to win the game 5-4.  The win brings the Spartans record to 4-5 on the season. 

The Spartans offense was able to pound out 13 hits in the game.  Schwirtz finished 4-6 with a double and two RBIs.  Ben Deiber was 4-5 with two doubles. Jake Dykhoff and Oetter also doubled in the game.  Oetter chipped in two RBIs as well.  Mitch Porter collected a stolen base. 

The Spartans will play another nine inning game on Thursday.  They will face ASA Brooklyn.
