M State Baseball Falls On The Road

The Spartans continued their non conference slate on Thursday afternoon as they traveled to face St. Johns JV in a doubleheader. 

Game 1:

A big third inning by St. Johns JV proved to be to much to overcome.  The Johnnies plated five runs and went on to win 9-4.  The Spartans collected five hits in the contest. Wyatt Halvorson took the mound for the Spartans and went 2 2/3 innings allowing eight runs on five hits and striking out two batters.  Christian Norby finished the game for the Spartans.

Game 2:

In the second game the men were unable to get the bats going.  The Spartans mustered only four hits and scored one runs as they fell 7-1.  Teigen Moritz had two hits for the Spartans.  Will Hoernemann took the mound for the Spartans and went 5 innings allowing four runs on five hits and striking out four batters.  Jackson Weniger finished the game for the Spatans.

Head Coach Grant Harding said this following the games.  "We need to play better defense and have better approaches at the plate. Teigen Mortiz is showing that he can be a really productive college hitter." 

The Spartans fall to 1-3 on the season. The Spartans will travel to play Northwestern College on March 30th. The games are scheduled for 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
