Riverland Community College paid a visit to Fergus Falls on Wednesday night and returned to Austin with a 97-70 victory over the M State Men's Basketball team. Riverland led 49-39 at the half and outscored the Spartans 48-31 over the final 20 minutes.
Riverland shot 58% (35-60) from the field and made 41% (7-17) of their three-pointers. Kwantez Simmons led them with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Terrell Smith added 16 points and two players, Deandre Raggs and Jalen Smith contributed 10 points apiece.
M State shot 42% (26-62) overall and just 29.6% (8-27) on treys. Austin Millerscored 17 points and dished out 6 assists to lead M State. Kyler Newman added 13 points and 5 rebounds, while Aaron Solberg scored 8 points and pulled down 6 boards.
M State (12-12, 5-6 MCAC South) will travel to St. Cloud on Saturday.
