Second Half Comeback Falls Short As Spartans Lose To Bluejays

In the last game of the Spartans homestand they faced a division showdown with Minnesota West CTC.  Minnesota West jumped out to a 15-3 lead but the Spartans were able chip away at it and were only trailing 45-37 at half.  The Spartans came out in the second half and outscored the Blue Jays 49-43 over the final 20 minutes of the game.  The Spartans had one chance at the end to send it to OT but missed the buzzer beater.  The final score was 88 to 86.  The Spartans fall to 7-9 overall and 1-2 against MCAC Southern Division teams.

The Spartans shot 46% from the field and 43% from behind the arc.  Alend Alemandi was put up 33 points to lead the Spartans. Renell Edwards provided a spark off the bench with 15 points and added a team high 8 rebounds. Alex Hendricks continued his short shooting from beyond the arc.  He nailed four to give him 12 points on the night.  

The Spartans finished there homestand and will return to the road.  The Spartans will to Austin, MN on Sunday to take on Riverland Community College.  Opening tip is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
