Spartan Men Overcome Halftime Deficit to Beat Anoka-Ramsey
The M State Men's Basketball team bounced back from an overtime loss to Riverland, the top ranked team in the country in NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball, with a 92-74 win over Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday night in Coon Rapids. M State had to rally from a 39-33 halftime deficit to earn the road win.
Foday Sheriff scored a game high 30 points to lead four Spartans in double digits. He also had 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Yonis Mohamud finished with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Mason Muir contributed 15 points, 8 assists and a pair of steals, and Javin Tindall had 10 points and 4 boards. Tyson McArthur chipped in with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. M State had a great shooting night, making 59.7% (37-62) of their field goal attempts and hitting 36% (9-25) of their 3's. They also went 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Anoka-Ramsey was led by Jamal Woods with 30 points. Albert Tinnell IV recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Ludwig distributed a team high 5 assists and Woods led the Rams with 3 steals. Stewart Jones came off the bench and provided 9 points and 6 rebounds.
With the win M State improved to 16-2 overall and 2-1 against MCAC Southern Division teams. They will host Ridgewater College on Wednesday, January 22 in Fergus Falls.
