The M State Lady Spartan Softball team opened their season with a doubleheader at Willmar. The Lady Spartans dropped the first game 16-8.
In game one, Maisy Hoefer had three hits and a sac fly for four runs batted in. Kendra Emery also had a pair of hits and three runs batted in and scored twice. Leadoff hitter Sydney Schaefer scored three runs and Kaisa Jones scored a pair of runs also.
Pitcher Kaylee Flom threw well but was the victim of some expected early season errors.
