Raiders Use Strong 3rd Quarter to Top Lady Spartans

 

The M State Lady Spartans led 32-28 at halftime Friday night in Brainerd, however, Central Lakes Community College outscored M State 26-15 in the third quarter to take a 54-47 lead and went on to post a 71-62 victory on the first day of the CLC Invitational. 

Olivia Winfrey led the lady Spartans with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Taylin Schleicher posted a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Sydney Hovland also finished in double figures with 12 points. Alexa Mortenson pulled down 10 rebounds, scored 7 points, dished out 4 assists and came up with 3 steals, turning in a solid all-around game for M State, while Kassandra Algarate added 6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. 

M State shot 37% (23-62) from the field and 26% (5-19) on 3's. They also made 11-of-18 (61%) free throws. Central Lakes won the battle of the boards 55-45 and the Raiders made 38% (30-79) of their field goal attempts. 

The Raiders were led by Henning graduate Paige Wallevand (18 points, 8 rebounds). Liz Anderson scored a dozen off the bench, Maggie Fellerman had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, and Kelsie White added 4 points, 10 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals.
