The M State lady Spartans took the long trek to Worthington to face the Minnesota West Lady Jays on Wednesday night. Minnesota West shot the ball at a 54.5% (24-44) clip, led 56-24 at the half, and went on to post an 86-58 win.
The lady Jays placed four players in double figures with three of them registering a double-double. They were led by Olivia Hayenga (24 points, 11 rebounds), Tia Murray (23 points, 11 rebounds, Madisyn Huisman (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Dannyn Peterson (11 points). Huisman had a team high 4 assists and 4 steals.
M State shot just 36.7% (22-60) and got out-rebounded 56-34. The lady Spartans were led by 26 points and 14 rebounds from Emily Dehler. Itzel Salazar added 13 points and Keely Foley had a team high 3 assists and 4 steals.
M State (8-8) will host Riverland at 1:00pm Saturday in their first home MCAC Southern Division contest of the season.
